Crissier (Switzerland), 3 March 2026 – EdgeVitals, a Swiss health-tech startup based at EPFL Innovation Park, and the Policlinique Nord-Sud (one of the 4 walk-in medical centers of EHC) announce the launch of a joint pilot project to test an innovative contactless solution for monitoring vital signs.

Within the scope of this project, the primary objective is to support front-desk staff, streamline patient pathways, and improve patient satisfaction by offering an innovative, simple, and reassuring experience. The initial phase of the project began in January, with the objective of evaluating the use of the EdgeVitals rVSM kiosk by Policlinique Nord-Sud teams and its integration into daily workflows. Based on the positive feedback, the project is now set to continue, with the possibility, depending on the results observed, of extending it to other EHC structures, such as Permanence Pédiatrique Nord-Sud, Permanence des Halles and Policlinique de la Venoge.

The EdgeVitals rVSM (Remote Vital Signs Monitoring) kiosk enables the fully contactless measurement of several indicative physiological parameters, such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation. The solution is based on advanced artificial intelligence and signal-processing algorithms and operates using a simple camera, without medical sensors, cables, or invasive procedures. No images or videos are recorded or stored. All analyses are performed in real time directly on the device, ensuring a high level of data protection and strict respect for patient privacy.

The EdgeVitals rVSM kiosk does not yet replace vital signs measurements performed by qualified medical staff. It is currently a pilot-stage device that is not yet certified as a medical device.

“This pilot project with EHC allows us to test our technology in real-world conditions and to demonstrate how simple, contactless digital tools can support medical staff in their daily work, while strictly respecting patient privacy” , explains Dr sc. Miljan Vuletić, CTO and Head of R&D at EdgeVitals. “This project is part of our ongoing commitment to innovation, with the goal of improving patient reception and supporting our teams in a high-activity environment”, adds Dr Christophe Ruedin, Medical Director at the Policlinique Nord-Sud.

This partnership between EdgeVitals and Policlinique Nord-Sud highlights the potential of Swiss digital innovations to address current challenges in the healthcare system, including the increasing pressure on ambulatory care structures and rising patient expectations regarding quality of care and reception.
